JACOB ECKROAT DEAD
Funeral of Salina Man held Wednesday Morning.

Jacob Victor Eckroat, 75, a resident of Salina for the past 27 years, died Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock at St. John's hospital of carcinoma. The body was taken to the Ryan Sullivan Mortuary, where it will remain until time for funeral services, which will be held Wednesday morning at 7:30 o'clock at the Catholic church, Rev. Carl Engbarth officiating. Interment will be in Mr. Calvary cemetery.
Mr. Eckroat who was a retired contractor, was born November 25, 1861 at Canton Ohio. His wife, Caroline Eckroat, died in 1930. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Ella Brown, Wakeeney; Mrs. Andrew Roth, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Jacob A Roth, Hays; Mrs. William Smalley, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Nick Befort, Portland, Oregon. There is one brother, Peter Eckroat.

FORMER HAYS RESIDENT DIES IN SALINA HOSPITAL

Jacob Victor Eckroat, 75, a former resident of Hays, died Monday afternoon at St. John's hospital as Salina. Mr. Eckroat left Hays 27 years ago and has made his home in Salina since. Mr. Eckroat, who was a retired contractor, was born Nov. 25, 1861, at Canton, Ohio. Mrs. Eckroat died in 1930. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Ella Brown, Wakeeney; Mrs. Andrew Roth, Kansas City; Mrs. Jacob A. Roth, Hays; Mrs. William Smalley, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Nick Beford, Portland, Oregon, and one brother, Peter Eckroat of Orange, Calif.
Mr. Eckroat came to Hays in the late 90's and made his home here until he went to Salina. Funeral services were Wednesday morning at 7 o'clock at to Salina Catholic church with Rev. Father Carl Engbarth officiating. Burial was in Mount Calvary cemetery.


Jacob and Caroline had 5 children:

1. Barbara Ellen "Elle" Married Frank M. Braun/Brown of Wakeeney. They had 3 children

2. Clara Marie Married Andrew Roth. They lived in Kansas City, Mo. They had 5 children.

3. Mary Agnes Married Jacob A. Roth, Hays. They had 5 children

4. Cora Emma c. 1895-1980 Married William Smalley. They lived in Sacramento, California. They had 2 Children.

5. Irene Reletta Married Nick Befort. They lived in Portland, Oregon. They had no children.
