Alfredo "Al" Lazarte, 73, of Wake Forest, formerly of Massapequa Park, New York, passed away on Wednesday evening, September 27, 2023 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born in Arequipa, Peru, the son of the late Miguel Lazarte Melgar and Elda Alecia Salinas.

Alfredo's legacy as the Senior Director of The Jewish Museum spanned many years, where his unwavering commitment and tireless efforts enriched the institution in countless ways. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alfredo was a man of diverse interests. He was an avid golfer, finding solace and joy on the green, where he honed his skills and formed lasting friendships.

But perhaps the most cherished aspect of Alfredo's life was his family. His bond with his 4-year-old grandson, Ethan, was a source of immense joy and inspiration.

Alfredo's absence will be deeply felt not only by his family but also by his close friends and the entire community he touched with his warmth and generosity. His memory will live on in the stories and shared experiences that have shaped the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 o'clock, Friday morning, October 20, 2023 at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

Mr. Lazarte is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cynthia Jean Ramos Lazarte; daughter, Adriane Lazarte Elek & husband Jonathan Elek of Wake Forest; son, Edwin Rivera & wife Noemi Rivera of Charlotte; grandchildren, Ethan Elek-Larzarte, Angelica Rivera, Eddie Rivera and Hazel Jerez; siblings, Fernando Meza, Carina Meza, Scarlet Meza and Mirella Meza.
