Kay Driscoll McKibbon was born in Merrickville and moved with his family to Sudbury, Ont as a young child. His name Kay was named after his mother's cousin, 'Driscoll' was his mom's maiden name.
He received the nickname 'Casey' from his uncle Pat Merrifield. Pat loved to sing when he had a few drinks, and his favourite song was the old railroad song 'Ballad of Casey Jones'. He nicknamed me 'Casey Jones', and the rest is history.
Two of his children (at this posting), Frances Doreen & Hubert David, are buried here across the cemetery. Frannie was their firstborn. When she died four days past 7 months, Kays's whole life changed. Shortly after she passed, he had an amazing spiritual experience that led him to become a Christian.
This Spiritual awakening and his marriage to Bev changed him forever.
Bev also is buried here. She was the person who had the idea of starting a wedding ceremony business, which they did together. Today it's a large national company.
Casey had the usual few jobs as a young man but found a job he really loved. It was with a consumer credit company, and he enjoyed it immensely. Later he felt a call to the minister and began the educational process to become Ordained.
Bev & Kay's motto is on this headstone. Micah 6.8 'What does the LORD require of you but to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God? Both determined that their Christian service would focus on Social Justice.
He has/is doing a deep dive into the first 300 years of Christianity. His reading leads him to believe the real faith began to morph into something else about that time. For Casey modern Church Christianity is dangerous to your soul!
Kay is a non-Church-going Spiritual Universalist who thinks Hell is a lot of you-know-what! Everyone goes to a better place eventually! As Universalists, we are sometimes jokingly called 'no hellers.' I like it!
