Joy Barker Cox Robinson met her Heavenly father on September 19, 2023 at the age of 83 in Brady.

Joy was born on October 12, 1939 to Claude Owen Barker and Lillie Bea (McWhorter) Barker Jenkins.

She attended school in Wolfe City, Texas.

Her son Donald Cox was born in September 1957 followed by son Ronald Cox in May 1959 and daughter Rebecca "Becky" Boyd in November, 1964.

Joy was a member of the Talty Baptist Church in Talty, Texas before moving to Brady where she attended Central Baptist Church.

Joy was a talented seamstress all of her life. She enjoyed making her jams, jellies, bread and many other arts and crafts projects.

Joy spent the majority of her life in Dallas before moving to Brady in 2005 where she was known for her delicious baked goods, her arts and crafts and her generosity to others. In previous years you would find her selling her goods at the World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-off in Brady. She would also be found every Saturday morning at Tractor Supply selling her baked goods.

Joy was a big fan of The Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Stars, Kansas City Chiefs and NASCAR Racing. There weren't many sports she wouldn't watch on TV.

Joy "Nanny" was very proud of her kids and grandkids. You would always see her at their sporting events cheering them on or making them pimiento cheese and helping out in any way she could.

A celebration of Joy's life will be held at 1:00pm Monday, September 25, 2023 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Reverend Brandon Bohannon and Reverend Devin Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Graveside services will be at 1:00pm Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6300 South R L Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Damon Boyd, Bryan Boyd, Ryan Cox, Charles Cox, Christopher Cox, Calvin Cox, Clayton Cox, Conner Cox and Colton Cox.

Joy is survived by sons Donald Cox (Laura) of Rockwall, TX and Ronald Cox (Kim) of Valley View, TX; daughter Becky Boyd of Brady, TX; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters; 1 brother; 2 step-brothers and 1 half-sister.

Joy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Calvin Donald Cox, husband Ralph Clark Robinson, 11 brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the many doctors that cared for her, Brady West and their caring staff and HOSA (Hospice of San Angelo) for their care and support during this time.

The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions in memory of Joy Barker Cox Robinson may be made to the Haven Family Shelter, P. O. Box 310, Brady, Texas 76825.
