DeWaine Alley, 91, passed away Friday, September 8, 2023 at home. He was born on October 8, 1931, the son of Howard and Cora Alley.

DeWaine was a 1949 graduate of Selma High School. After graduating, DeWaine joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country.

He married the love of his life, Loretta Alley, in 1952. He received a bachelor's degree from Ball State University, and his master's degree from Indiana University. DeWaine retired from Muncie Southside High School in 1995. He had a passion for farming.

DeWaine is survived by his wife, Loretta Alley; sons, David (Teresa) Alley, Michael (Ericka) Alley, and Steve (Stacey) Alley; seven grandchildren, Josh Alley, Jakob Alley, Logan (Michelle) Alley, Cy Alley, Chris (Ashley) Fields, Kelsi (Jason) Jennings, and Trevor Alley; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Alley, Scarlett Alley, Wynter Jennings, and Wrenley Jennings; brothers, Weldon (Nora) Alley and Eldon (Mary Jane) Alley; and brother-in-law, Arthur (Linda) Haney; and several nieces and nephews. DeWaine was preceded in passing by his parents; brother, Norman Alley sister-in-law, Roberta Alley; brother-in-law, Robert Haney sister-in-law, Jane Haney; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lavaughn and Thelma Haney.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2023, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home - 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
