Maxine Elizabeth Dorr, 78, a resident of the Good Samaritan Care Center in Albert Lea, Minnesota, formerly of Belmond and Missouri, died on Saturday, June 8, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church west of Belmond, with the Rev. Lowell Halvorson officiating. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, from 5-8:00 p.m., at the Tenold Andrews Funeral Home in Belmond and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Maxine was born on February 6, 1924, on her parent's farm at rural Mason City, the daughter of Conrad R. and Zada Ellen Sears Link. She attended Mason City Schools and graduated in 1942.

Maxine was united in marriage to Lloyd K. Heggestad in Mason City on August 22, 1942. To this union four children were born, Gary, Marvie, Linda and Dennis. She later married Russell J. Dorr in Belmond. The couple farmed in the Belmond, Kanawha, and Goodell areas. Russell also owned a trucking business which Maxine helped him operate, and she drove livestock trucks for the business.

She also worked for various health care institutions such as Mercy Hospital in Mason City, the hospital in Windom, Minnesota, the Belmond Medical Center, and the Belmond Health Care Center. She was a long time care giver for Vernita and Chloe Thomas in their home in Belmond.

In 1976 Russell and Maxine moved to a farm near Martinsville, Missouri. They lived there until Russell's death in 1986. Then Maxine lived for a time in Rowan before moving to New Hampton, Missouri where her son, Gary Heggestad and his family cared for her.

In 1992, Maxine, along with Gary and family, moved to Glenville, Minnesota. She lived there until 1994 when she became a resident of Good Samaritan Care Center.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Lloyd Heggestad and Russell Dorr; sons, Dennis and Marvie; and brothers, Clement, Seward and Almon Link.

Survivors include Gary and Darlene Heggestad of Glenville, Minnesota; daughter, Linda Criff of New London; step-daughter, Marlene Wessels of Goodell; sister, Mildred "Mickie" Madson of Mason City; sister-in-law, Mary Belle Link of Casper, Wyoming; brother-in-law, Leland (Adean) Dorr; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including granddaughter, Donna (David) Basener of Meservey, granddaughter, Linda (Steve) Schrage of Clarion and grandson, John (Tammy) Wessels of Kanawha.
