He had a falling out with his wife over another woman (Marian, his wife filed a suit against this woman who "stole her husbands favor" and the family eventually broke up with William moving to Rutland Wisconsin before 1896. Marian listed herself as a Widow in the 1900 census even though William was still alive. There were no divorce records found.
In Rutland by 1896, William Spooner married (again there are no marriage records located) Minnie E. Munger. They too had several children.
These are: Grace, Violet and Walter. Another son of William Spooner was Clarence Spooner and was enumerated with his father in the 1900 Census living in Rutland. He would later move to Michigan and settle, marry and be buried. His mother may have been Marian or Sarah Wood.
William passed away in 1907. His current wife Minnie listed herself as his widow and his first wife Marian continued to list herself as his widow. In fact, she is buried with her parents and is buried under the name Spooner.
