Ruby Evelyn Redd, 88, Shawnee, died Sunday in Shawnee. She was born July 8, 1912 in Micawber, Oklahoma, the daughter of W. P. and Mary Mayfield Vanzant. She attended Micawber and Farris Schools.

In 1932, she married A. R. Driskell. In March 1944, she married Henry Mitchell. He preceded her in death in September 1961.

Mrs. Redd had lived in Shawnee for 20 years, having lived in California and several other Oklahoma towns.

While living in California, she worked in pear sheds as a packer. She had also worked in cotton fields and in several restaurants. She had managed the King Hotel in Woodward.

Mrs. Redd was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and attended Blackburn Chapel.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter, Geneva Colton, two brothers, Kenneth and Lewis Vanzant and one grandson, Dustin Gee.

Survivors include her two daughters and a son-in-law, Saundra and Andy Taylor of Woodward and Norma Kibler of Shawnee, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dennis and Fay Mitchell of Seffner, Florida, Dale and Donna Mitchell of McLoud and Bob Driskell of Shawnee, her sister, Irene Cooper of Hot Springs, Arkansas, twenty one grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel. Larry Sparks will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Jacktown.
