Serhiy was the author of the historical blog " Vanishing Kyiv ", which advocated the preservation of architectural heritage and loved his native city very much. With his own funds, he restored the ancient doors of Kyiv houses. Therefore, his relatives and friends were not surprised that a man who could not stand aside from the events taking place around him, in the first days of a full-scale war, enrolled in the ranks of territorial defense. When the immediate threat retreated from the capital, Serhiy's unit was transferred to the east of Ukraine. "War creates such extreme conditions that it is simply impossible to lie either to yourself or to others. Everything falls into place. No matter how scary it sounds, people find themselves in war. It's just that not everyone can live with what they've got," Serhiy wrote in his blog.
While saving his unit, Serhii was seriously wounded near Bakhmut. They tried to save him in the hospital for several days. However, on the morning of November 17, without regaining consciousness, his heart stopped forever. A farewell ceremony was held in St. Michael's Golden-Top Monastery on November 23. Afterward, he was buried in the central alley of the Baikovo cemetery.
