On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, Eugenio "Gene" Procopio Quintana, age 82, went to meet our Lord.
Eugenio was a loving father, grandfather, brother and son.
Eugenio was born on November 15, 1940 in El Cerrito, NM to Florencio and Agneda Quintana.
Eugenio married Ramoncita Chavez on February 24, 1968. They raised a son and a daughter.
Eugenio had a passion for music. Eugenio was well known for his band "El Gato Negro". His music was admired not only by family and friends, but also by all who heard him play.
Eugenio also had a passion for playing pool at the senior centers. Eugenio won a 3rd place trophy at one of the pool tournaments they had in 2022.
Eugenio was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, his beautiful hair, his kind compassionate spirit and making the song "El Gato Nergo" his trademark.
Eugenio was preceded in death by his father, Florencio, his mother, Agneda, his brothers, Perfecto, Florencio, Abran, Lalo and Romaldo, sister, Maria and several nieces and nephews.
Eugenio is survived by his wife, Ramoncita, son, Ronald, daughter, Yvette and her husband, Jon, three granddaughters, Joslyn, Alycia and Nicole, his brothers, Arthuro, Vidal and George, sisters, Edminda and Lydia and several nieces and nephews.
Rosary and funeral mass will be celebrated on September 6, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW, Albuquerque, NM. Reception will follow at the Holy Family Parish Hall.
