John B. Breckenridge of Chevy Chase, MD, died on April 17, 2023, in hospice care after suffering a stroke. He was born June 13, 1926, in Potsdam, NY, the son of Marjorie Douglas and Byron Evans Breckenridge.

John, loving husband of the late Jean Wilson Breckenridge, is survived by two daughters in Washington, DC, Brooke Morton and Robin Stiner, two sons-in-law William Morton and John Stiner, four grandchildren, Wilson (Latoya) and John "Jes" Stiner, and Breckenridge "Breck" and Lily Morton, and one great-grandson, Sage Stiner. He is also survived by Louise "Chita" Brawner, his devoted friend of many years.

Aptly nicknamed "Honey," John was known to everyone for his sunny disposition and joyful presence. Dedicated to his family and friends, he was a consummate gentleman, who had a heart of gold and a twinkle in his eye.

He was a member of The Order of the Founders and Patriots of America, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, the National Presbyterian Church, the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club and the Edgemoor Club. John served in the US Navy in World War II (1944-46) and the Korean War (1951-52). He attended the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) graduating from Tri-State College in Indiana in 1951. He raised his family in Connecticut before moving to Chevy Chase in 1980 to become the comptroller of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.
