Husband's great-grandpa. Only child of Robert David McCann, Sr. & Josephine Cordner.

***** Grandma used to tell me stories about how this Grandpa's father arriving in America. She said he had a hard life "across the pond" and was sold as a boat-hand headed to the land of the free and home of the brave. When he arrived, life continued to be a struggle to survive, earning what he could on the streets. Along came the Civil War, and he joined the Twelfth Infantry which was organized at Niles by Colonel Francis Quinn of that city, and was mustered into service March 5, 1862, with an enrollment of 1,000 officers and men. By the end of the war, the Twelfth Infantry had seen plenty of fighting days. *****

Married Aura Gertrude Dickerson, November 12, 1890 in paw Paw, Van Buren Co., MI. (the 1900 census says married 10 years, 5 children, 2 living).
