Mrs. Sarah Mariam Carr Byington, 70, of Lava Hot Springs, died in Lava Hot Springs Sunday.

She was born Sept. 10, 1872, of Promontory, Utah, the daughter of David Orlando Carr and Melvina Butler Carr. She moved with her family to Annis and was married there to James Henry Byington on Dec. 25, [couldn't read the year] They moved to Lava Hot Springs in 1903 and had resided there since. Mr. Byington died in 1930.

She was an active member of the LDS church and was president of the ward's Relief Society for many years. She was visiting teacher and primary worker and for many years was a worker in the Logan LDS temple.

Surviving are nine children, Roy L. and Emil R., Lava Hot Springs; Mrs. Florence A. Williams, Donald L., Clarence A., and Loren R., Lakeview, Ore.; Mrs. Veda E. Segal, Burley; and Ardell E., Marsing; 40 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Lava Hot Springs LDS ward chapel. Bishop Morris W. Teeples will officiate.

Burial will be in the Lava Hot Springs cemetery. Friends may call at the LDS chapel from noon Wednesday until time of service.

Arrangement is under the direction of Hall-Grant mortuary.
