R B Laurence, 68, of Athens are scheduled for 11 am Saturday at Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Athens. Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery.

Mr. Laurence died Wednesday July 22, 1998, in Athens. He was born Oct 13, 1929. He worked for Houston Lighting & Power for 37 years and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many who will be greatly missed. He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, and watching NASCAR racing.

His family will always remember his playful spirit, sense of humor and the generous amount of love and support he gave to those so dear. "Pepaw" always had a jouful smile and a helpful hand for each person he met.

Mr. Laurnece was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Laurence; his mother, Bertha Laurence, stepmother, Maudie Laurence; brother, Sherman Laurence, Jr. and a gaughter, Brenda Caldwell.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years; Bonnie Jean, children Michael, Robert, and Pamela Roedl; stepsons, Darel Smitherman, James W Smitherman and Larry Smitherman; stepdaughter, Debbie Yarbrough; brother, Charles; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
