Doris Lorraine Bettesworth, 91, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at
her home.
She was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Renwick, Iowa, to Vern and Sarah Schoolcraft.
She married Ralph E. Bettesworth in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa,
June 21, 1947.
For many years Ralph and Doris owned and operated a small diary farm in the Town of Gale. In 1975, the family moved to Ettrick and Doris began her life's
work as a CNA at Marinuka Manor in Galesville. After 32 years, then 82 years old, she retired. Doris enjoyed reading, gardening, listening to her favorite radio-talk shows, and spending time with her family.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her three sisters and their husbands, Darlene (Harold) Schwartzrock, Verna (Glen) Skillen, Grace (Clifford) Gray; brothers-in-law, Howard Bettesworth, Clarence Lacour, and son-in-law, Michael Pledger.
Survivors include her brother, Edgar (Rosemary) Schoolcraft; sister-in-law, Florence Lacour; and her 10 children, Connie (William) Deubel, Larry Bettes-
worth, Jerry (Varne) Bettesworth, Bonnie Pledger, Jeannie Bettesworth, Danny Bettesworth, James (Lori) Bettesworth, Terri (Leighton) Fritz, Sam Bettesworth, and Linda Bettesworth; 23 grandchildren' 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Friday, June 5, at Hardies Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Ettrick, with the Rev. John Ashland officiating.
Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel, assisted the family.
