Gary Wayne Ellison, 74, passed away August 18, 2023 at his home the Legacy House of
Taylorsville, surrounded by family and the amazing staff at Legacy House. Gary was born
on April 13, 1949, in Idaho Falls, ID the fourth of seven children to Albert Max Ellison and
Wanda Ida (Brown) Ellison. The family moved to Murray where he spent his childhood. He
opened an auto body shop in Salt Lake and enjoyed refurbishing and painting cars. He
shared this talent with his brothers Bob and Rick and his sons Wayne and Gary Jr, since
then the Ellison family has built a legacy for themselves in the auto body business.
Gary's passions included, but were not limited to, racing and refurbishing cars, bow ling,
golfing, fishing and flying his airplane. He was a jokester through and through, even if he
was the only one laughing. He was an amazing craftsman in many different areas and
could fix or restore anything he put his mind to.
Proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Robert Max and William Thomas Ellison.
Gary is survived by his children Wendy (Troy), Wayne, Gary Jr and Marissa; 11 grandkids;
3 great grandkids; siblings Judy Lopez, Rick (Shadalyn) Ellison, Diane (Bryce) Gomm,
Debbie (Ken) Sharp.
A graveside service w ill be held on Monday, August 28th at 10:30 AM at Elysian Gardens,
1075 E 4580 S, Millcreek, UT. A celebration of life will follow at Carmelle Reception Center
from 11:30 to 1:30, 4075 S Highland Drive, casual attire is encouraged.
The family would like to thank everyone for the love and support that wa s given through
these difficult times. A special thanks to Legacy House of Taylorsville for being a second
family to Gary over the last year and to Inspiration Home Health and Hospice for their
amazing support to him and his family during this difficult time.

Gary was cremated and those remains were buried on the grave of his mother Wanda Ida Brown Ellison.
