Olive was born on October 12, 1930, in Crane, Montana to Francis (Friday) Alexander and Ruth (Hull) Alexander, the fourth of five children. She graduated from Savage, Montana High School in 1947, and from the Montana State College of Nursing in Bozeman in 1951.

She married David G. Lamb of Big Timber, Montana, while the two of them were on an adventure, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on February 3, 1951. They had three children, Micheal (Cheryl) of Helena, Montana, Daniel (Janet) of Billings, Montana, and Cindy (Dennis) Berg of Glendive, Montana. The greatest sadness in her life occurred when her closest friend, her beloved daughter, Cindy Ruth, predeceased her. Olive had six grandchildren, Adrienne, David, Jay, Alan, Megan and Jeremy; and was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Kline, Alora, Quinten, and most recently, Daniel Alan.

Olive and Dave lived in Bremerton, Washington, for several years after Dave's discharge from the military after WWII. They returned to Montana and settled in Red Lodge where they owned and operated the Ben Franklin store for many years. They divorced in 1970, and Olive moved to Columbus, where she served as the Director of Nursing at the Stillwater County Hospital. She later worked at the Sweetgrass County Hospital in Big Timber. She returned to Red Lodge after her children graduated from High School to help care for her mother Ruth and worked at the Carbon County Hospital until her retirement. She ultimately moved to Billings to be closer to her son Dan and his family, living her last years at the Tender Nest Assisted Living Center in Billings. Throughout her last decade, Dan was Olive's companion/guardian angel, and ever-present support system; the sunshine in her days!

Olive was a gifted nurse who faced life's challenges with courage and humor. A voracious reader until her eyesight began to fail, she resorted to audible books and kept on reading, always anxious for a new author or series to enjoy. She remained sharp as a tack and fiercely independent throughout her long life. She was a good friend, a calming influence, a good listener and a wise woman who enjoyed staying in her own lane. She was a Montana girl blessed to be born, raised, educated, live and die in The Last Best Place---causing her fair share of trouble and earning her portion of smiles and laughter along the way.

Olive was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and daughter Cindy. At 92 years of age at the time of her passing, she outlived most of her friends and acquaintances.

Per her wishes, no memorial service is planned. As instructed, cremation has occurred and her ashes will be spread, along with those of her beloved daughter Cindy, in a family gathering "when the flowers bloom." In lieu of flowers or donations, mom asked only that in her memory her friends and family simply do something special today for those they love.

On behalf of our mother and her family, we would like to express our deep appreciation for and extend our sincere thanks to the medical providers and staff at the Billings Clinic Hospital, Bella Terra Rehabilitation Center (now Skyline Heights) and TenderNest Assisted Living for the personal attention, compassionate care and support provided to Olive, to keep her safe and brighten her days through these difficult times.
