Susan was a social worker for the State of Mississippi for many years before moving to Tampa, Florida. She and two of her sisters owned and operated an assisted living facility for over twenty years while living there. Upon retiring, she moved back to Helenwood. Susan was a loving caregiver to many throughout her career and life. She took care of many of her sisters during their final days on earth. Her sister Eunice, whom she loved and cherished, was her best friend. She had a special relationship with all her sisters, but her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Shane, Stacy, Kayla, Ryan, Lindsey, and David Lee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Michael Blevins and Paul Edward Bynum; special son-in-law: Douglas Nance; seven sisters, and two brothers.
Susan is survived by her daughters: Teresa Nance of Prattville, Alabama, and Leslie Sexton and husband Jerry of Helenwood, Tennessee; sister: Eunice Neal; grandchildren: Shane Nance and wife Robbie, Stacy Brown, Kayla Bowden and husband Brian, Ryan Nance, Lindsey Papantoniou and husband Geno, David Lee Gibson and fiancée Maddie Bearse, Jessica Blevins, Rachael Blevins, and Michael Blevins; thirteen great grandchildren; special life-long friend: Meredia Jones Simpson; and special caregivers from Amedisys; many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Tim Smith and Staff of Grace Primary Care.
Friends may visit with Susan's family on Saturday August 12, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Helenwood Baptist Church with Bro. Kevin Sexton officiating. Music will be provided by Arnold and Lloyd Stephens.
Committal service will follow in the Carter-Phillips Cemetery in Helenwood, TN. Pallbearers will be: Shance Nance, Stacy Nance Brown, David Lee Gibson, Brian Bowden, Landan Brown and Colton Douglas Nance.
