Sgt. Major Abraham "Abe" Sales (Retired), 76 of Syracuse passed away Monday January 8th at Van Duyn Center. He was born January 2, 1942, in Plant City, FL to the late Louis and Hattie Hightower Sales. Growing up competitive lead to his rise through the ranks of the Marine Corp to a Sgt. Major. He entered recruit training at Parris Island, SC and proudly served his country 30 years including two tours in Vietnam. He loved his time as a Marine, retiring in 1994 to his home in Plant City, FL. In September 2001 he moved to Syracuse, NY where he remained until his passing. In Syracuse, he was a member of the Syracuse Alliance Church where he served as a deacon and an Usher until his illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Hattie, sisters Julia Mae, Annie, Lula and Joyce Marie, brothers, Albert, Louis Jr., Warren and Emory. He leaves to mourn his passing his son Abraham Thomas Sales; brother Nelson Sales (Juanita) of Syracuse, Eugenia Sales (Betty Sue) of Plant City, FL; and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends, a special cousin, Mary Helen and a special friend Elliot Rouse. Funeral services will be Friday, January 19th at 11am at Mt. Olive MBC in Plant City, FL. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Syracuse, NY. We the family thank the doctors and nurses at the Syracuse VA for all the care he received.
