Ole Christian Sorensen was born in Nesby, Denmark, 23 August 1852. He grew up on a farm and attended school until he was fourteen. He learned the tarade of butchering, but preferred fishing. He served three years in the Danish Army and returned to fishing. He married Karen Johanna Christensen on 23 Aug 1871 at Rarnie Saugh. They met the Mormon Missionaries and studied the gospel. Karen and Ole decided to join the church, a short time later his parents and the rest of his family joined. Ole left for America with his son, Soren, leaving the rest of the family in Denmark. They left on 6 October 1882. Karen gave biarth to Ole Vest just six days later. Karen and their other three childlren came to America in the fall of 1883. In the fall of 1888, the familywent to the atemple and had their children sealed to them. In July of 1889 the family moved to Grass Valley, filed on 40 acres east of Koosharem and settled there. He acquird a team of horses and a wagon and began freighting and trading to provide for his family. He also butchered beef and hogs for other settlers. Karen and Ole were the parents of 10 children: six daughters and four sons. Ole Christian Sorensen (Pederson) died 6 June 1903 in Koosharem. Karen Johanna Christensen Died 4 April 1926. They are buried in the Koosharem Cemtery.
