Mr. Edgar Pounds, age 73, passed away on August 5, 2023, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, LA. He was a life-long resident of Bogalusa, LA, and a member of The Pentecostals of Lee Road. Edgar loved horses and started his career as a jockey and trainer for several years until he was injured and then took up welding and worked construction where he retired. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and loved doing that with friends and family. He was known for his witty sense of humor, always joking, and pranking anyone he could. The years leading up to the end of his life was spent enjoying time with his wife, kids, and grandkids and sitting in his chair watching Gunsmoke.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years: Mrs. Dewanna Breland Pounds; two daughters: Dana Chatelain (Clint) and Dionne Crane (Seth); seven grandchildren: Avery, Ashlyn, Trevor, Reese, Weston, Levi, and Chase; two brothers: Dewey Pounds (Joyce) and Joseph Pounds (Andrea); and two sisters: Susan Pounds and Kathleen Ballard (Beaux).
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Lanita Pounds.
Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was entrusted with final arrangements. Starting on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, visitation will start in the chapel of the funeral home at 5PM until 9PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 12PM until the start of service at 2PM. Bro. Rick Maricelli and Bro. Denny Jenkins will officiate all services. Interment will immediately follow service at Pounds Cemetery in Bogalusa, LA.
Pallbearers are as follows: Stephain Ballard, Seth Crane, Clint Chatelain, Josh Breland, Karon Breland, and Trevor Maricelli.
