Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Bridger Lutheran Church for Katherine Hergenrider, 58, who died Saturday night in Billings Hospital after losing the battle with breast cancer.
Katherine "Katy" was born June 18, 1922, in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, she is a daughter of Jacob and Anna Marie Kraft. She was the 3rd daughter to be born in the family. At the age of five, she moved with her family to a farm in Carbon County, near Belfry and Bridger, Montana. She was married to Alex Hergenrider in Belfry, on November 9, 1938; they had lived on farms between Belfry and Bridger all their married lives. She was a member of both the Belfry and Bridger Lutheran Churches.
Survivors include the widower, Alex, two sons, Glenn and Randall both of Bridger, a daughter, Margery, also a Bridger, and Lucky, a granddaughter, seven brothers, John of Laurel, Ed, Albert, Bruce, and Herman, all of Billings Emmanuel and Jake both of Absarokee, five sisters Mrs. Freda Lawson of Billings, Mrs. Frank Anderson of Fort Benton, Montana, Mrs. Art Jensen of Evanston, Wyoming, Mrs. Bernard Rasmussen of Polson and Peggy Kraft of Billings.
Reverend Richard green officiated the service and Katherine's burial was in the Belfry Cemetery in Belfry, Montana, with the Cash Moore Memorial Chapel of Laurel in charge of the arrangements. The congregation sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Casket Bearers were Bruce Giest.Katy's brother, Albert Kraft, and brother-in-laws, Art Jensen and Frank Anderson.
