JANICE HENDRICKS
August 30, 1941 - July 2, 2023

Janice Hendricks, 81, died Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri. She was born August 30. 1941 at her parents' house near Jerico Springs, Cedar County, MO to Waldemar H. "Walt" Burmester and Ethel E. (Deardorff) Burmester. She was baptized and confirmed at age 16 at Zion Lutheran Church in Jerico Springs. She was a charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Stockton, MO.

She graduated from Stockton High School as the Valedictorian of her class in 1959. Shortly after graduation, Janice married Max R. Hendricks on November 26, 1959, whom she said was "a very cute boy" when they first met at their walk down the aisle for their "Eighth Grade Graduation." To this union were born their two children: Beth and Rod.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Max Hendricks; her children Beth and husband Brent Ramirez of Jerico Springs, MO and Rod Hendricks and wife Kelly of Jerico Springs, MO; grandchildren: Anessa and Tim Squires, Grant and MacKenzi Ramirez, and Ely and Kayla Hendricks --- and three great-grandchildren --- Nicolas Squires, Brinley Squires, and Ella Hendricks: sisters-in-law Linda Burmester, Barbara (Pat) Patterson, Vickie (Ed) McNellis --- and a host of nieces and nephews and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Doris (Wallace) Enfield, Dorothy (Charles) Cates and Harold Burmester.

She worked at AT&T in Kansas City, MO shortly after graduation prior to moving back to Stockton in 1962. Once Janice returned to Stockton, she worked for Stockton Schools as a secretary. She began her notable career in 1969 with Sac River Valley Bank which later became Liberty Bank. She retired from Liberty Bank in 2006 after 37 yeas of dedicated service; the friendships built throughout these years of service at the bank have continued with frequent lunches together.

After retirement, Janice continued a very active role in her community. Her servant heart was valued by those who knew her. Attention to detail was a quality that didn't go unnoticed, she never missed a birthday, anniversary, or significant date. She was a charter member of the Stockton Recreation Association. Janice was an active member and servant of St. Andrew Lutheran Church for over 30 years. She served as treasurer of many organizations and cemeteries. Janice served on the Board of Directors for the Stockton Community Foundation.

Along with her service to the community, Janice received great joy in spending time with her family and friends. Janice filled her home with a welcoming warmth and kindness. In her free time, you could often find her playing golf and cards with the fellow members of the Ladies Association. Janice was a talented quilter, seamstress, and loved crocheting baby blankets and dish cloths. Janice was truly loved by all that knew her!

There will be a visitation beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. The service will be followed with a graveside burial service at Zion Cemetery near Jerico Springs, MO.
