REGIMENTAL HISTORY:
This regiment was organized at Columbus, Sandusky, Wooster, Alliance, Camp Chase, and Circleville, from Aug. 10 to Sept. 21, 1864 to serve for one year. As soon as the organization was completed the regiment was ordered to Nashville, Tenn., and assigned to the 2nd brigade, 4th division, 20th army corps. Soon after its arrival it was detailed to perform provost guard duty at Nashville. During the battle of Nashville it was in the works, but with the exception of a few companies under Maj. Cummings the regiment was not engaged. It was mustered out on June 14, 1865 in accordance with orders from the war department.
