Mr. Billy E. Oglesby, 76, died Wednesday (April 2, 2008) at Satilla Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Waycross and had resided most of his life in Waycross. He was son of the late Wilbur Wright Oglesby and Ruby Irene Quarterman Oglesby.
He was retired from the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam and Korean War. He was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lou Bryan Oglesby of Waycross; a daughter, Catherine L. Waters Smith (husband Clifford) of Waycross; two sons, Billy Dale Oglesby (wife Ocie) of Hickox, Bobby Gene Oglesby (wife Pat) of Hortense; a sister, Nelda (Sis) Townsend of Waycross; a brother, Wilbur (Homer) Oglesby of Waycross; eight grandchildren, Stacy Oglesby, Brad Oglesby, Kelsey Banks, Amber Oglesby, Darrin Waters, Jr., Aaron Oglesby, Brent Oglesby, Maegan Oglesby; and five great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday (April 5, 2008) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Hortense Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday night from 7 until 9.
