Ruby Lou Oglesby, 83, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Pierce County Nursing Home after an extended illness under the care of Satilla Hospice.
Ruby was born on February 5, 1933 in Fargo, Georgia to the late William Benjamin and Rosa Bennett Bryan. She was a homemaker and mother for most of her life who had also worked several different places throughout the years. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, creating ceramic pieces of art and tending to animals, which she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, her husband of fifty-eight years, Billy E. Oglesby, her brothers, Dempsey Bryan and Gene Tuney Bryan and her grandson, Aaron Moses Oglesby preceded her in death.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Dale and Ocie Oglesby of Washington and Bobby Gene and Patricia Lee Oglesby of Hortense; daughter, Catherine Lou Oglesby of Waycross and seven grandchildren and their spouses, Stacey Peacock and husband, Paul, Amber Oglesby, Megan Oglesby, Bradley Oglesby and wife, Carla, Brenton Oglesby and wife, Brittney, Kelsey Banks and wife, Haili and Darrin Waters, Jr. and wife, Kayla. Eleven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Hortense Church of God of Prophecy.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Hortense Church of God of Prophecy with Reverend Richard Jeffers officiating. Interment will follow in Hortense Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Bradley Oglesby, Brenton Oglesby, Levi Oglesby, Kelsey Banks, Darrin Waters, Jr. and B.J. Flowers. Honorary pallbearers will be staff members of Pierce County Nursing Home.
