HAROLD'S OBITUARY
Harold Dean Carr, Sr was born at the family farm in rural Galena, MO on October 17, 1933. He departed this life on July 25, 2023 at 89 years, 9 months, and 8 days at Cox South in Springfield, MO.

Harold was proceeded in death by his father, William Clyde Carr; his mother, Ernestine Haynes Carr; his brother, William Edward Carr; as well as his sons, James Michael Carr and Harold Carr, Jr.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy Carr, of the home; daughters Karen (and Darrel) Back of Galena, MO, Anita (and Matt) Pugh of Kimberling City, MO, and Karla Jenkins of Nixa, MO; son Max (and Jodie) Carr of Louisiana, MO; and step-daughter Debbie Doweidt of Hurley, MO.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicholas Carr, Heather Wells, Dustin Back, Amanda Back, Ashley Hole, Caleb Hole, Taylor Jenkins, Adam Jenkins, Dakota Carr, and Dalton Carr; and step-grandchildren, Tiffany Amass, and Casey Callison. His great-grandchildren are Brody and William Hole, Elijah and Aubree Jenkins, and step-great-grandson, Camren Amass.

Harold was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army. After returning from the military, he was commissioned as a reserve deputy under Sheriff Tommy Walker in 1958. He worked full time patrolling federal parks under Sheriff Richard Barnes until the program expired, at which time he became a police officer in Galena, MO, as well as a Stone County deputy. He began working at the Crane Police Department as an officer in 1978, and in 1983 he became the Chief of Police until his retirement in 2005.

Harold built and then operated Carr's Service Station in Cape Fair, MO for almost 10 years.

Over the years, he owned and operated a number of flea markets and loved a good auction.

Harold had many hobbies, including mechanics, wood and metal working, beekeeping, and clock repair. He loved working in his yard and was very proud of his ability to grow beautiful weeping willows. He loved to tinker in his shed and was a collector of noisy clocks and Looney Tune cookie jars.

At 89, he still enjoyed a good episode of Looney Tunes, Andy Griffith, and Gunsmoke; while having most episodes memorized. If you knew him well, you knew not call while Chicago PD, Med or Fire were on or if the St. Louis Cardinals were playing.

Harold was a life-long member of the Church of Christ at Cape Fair, MO and was a Godly example to his family and friends. We will miss his humor, wit, beautiful smile and thrown-back-head laugh.
