Galesburg, IL - Leonard F. Mahnesmith, 73, of 1546 Williams St. died at 5:20 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

He was born January 7, 1935 in Galesburg, son of Leonard O. and Lillian E. Miller Mahnesmith. He married Velda G. Douglas on March 26, 1955 in Cambridge IL. She died April 24, 2004.

He is survived by three sons, Daniel (Robin) Mahnesmith, John Mahnesmith and Lennie (Alice Puckett) Mahnesmith; one sister, Patty Ray (James); one sister-in-law, Barb Renwick; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son Gary, five brothers, two sisters and one step grandson Sr. Airman Daniel B. Miller, JR EOD.

He first was a truck driver for Roger Brothers. He later worked as a long distance truck driver, last driving for Warren Transportation in Waterloo, IA.

Graveside services will be at Wataga Cemetery.
