Galesburg, IL - Forrest E. Mahnesmith, 66, of 1531 E. Losey St. died at 12:32 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 1994, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Born Sept. 21, 1927, in East Galesburg to Leonard O. and Lillian Miller Mahnesmith, he married Mary L. Varnold on March 4, 1951, in Knoxville. She died July 13, 1990.

Two brothers also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Steven L. of Galesburg and Staff Sgt. Timothy E. of Frankfort, Germany; one daughter, Diane L. Walker of Galesburg; three brothers, Joseph and Leonard, both of Galesburg, and Donald of Minneapolis; three sisters, Betty Horn of Orrstown, Pa., Joan Varnold of Galesburg and Patricia Ray of Cameron; and four grandchildren.

A member of United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Locals 294 and 25, he was a plumber and pipe fitter in the Galesburg area for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was an Army veteran, having served in Germany.

Burial will be in Wataga Cemetery in Wataga.
