Edward L. Griego Sr. of Weston passed away in Denver, Colorado on November 10, 2005 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Greeley, Colorado on January 17, 1934 to Felicita (Sanchez) and Andres Griego. He was a coal miner for 28 years, having worked in the Allen Mine until his retirement. He enjoyed watching game shows on TV and listening to country music. Ed was an avid outdoorsman and liked to hunt and fish, and liked to work on cars with his boys. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a man of deep faith and he was a devoted caretaker of Our Lady of Esquipula Church in Weston for many years. He was a gentle person who always was kind and loving. His ever present smile will be missed by many.

Preceding him in death are parents, Felicita and Andres Griego; sons, Edward L. Griego Jr., Andy E. Griego; father-in-law Henry Duran; sisters, Juanita Vialpando, Beatrice Baca, Regina Vialpando; brothers, George Griego, Amadeo Griego; brothers-in-law, Joe Archuleta, Gilbert Duran, Donnie Vialpando; godson Arnold Roybal; nephews, Rocky Kaiser, Orlando Trujillo; and niece Brenda Duran Chavez.

Survivors are wife Elvera Griego of home address; children, Joan Griego (Loreto Vigil), Denver, Michael Griego (Glora McIntire), Weston, Gerald Griego (Laurie Trujillo), Weston, Ryan (Angela) Griego, Weston, Lawrence (Crystal) Griego, Weston; mother-in-law, Theresa A. Duran, Weston; grandchildren, Charles (Mona) Lopez, Cimmaron, NM, Joni Lopez (Clifford Maes), Trinidad, Joani Lopez (Anthony Armijo), Trinidad, Brandi Vigil, Denver, Veronica Griego, CA, Kyle (Cindy) Lopez, Pueblo, 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Marlene (Gary) Grundtisch, CA, Margaret (Orlando) Trujillo, Denver; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou (Marty) Garcia, Weston, Freida J. (David) Brodie, Denver, Susie Archuleta, Weston, Gloria Starkey, Weston, Martha Duran (Ben Vigil), Denver, Joe Vialpando, Weston, Cip Baca, Albuquerque, NM; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00PM-6:00PM at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel. Vigil Rites will be Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at 7:00PM at Holy Trinity Church. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Church. Interment will follow at the Weston Cemetery.

Following the services, friends and family are invited to gather at the Best Western.

Honorary Pallbearers are Kyle Lopez, Ted Garcia, Tony Archuleta, Andres Griego, and Loreto Vigil.
Active Pallbearers are Michael Griego, John Mestas, Gerald Griego, Ryan Griego, Lawrence Griego, Charles Lopez, and Anthony Armijo.
