Charles Douglas Ward, 81, of Granbury passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023.


Doug was born on September 22, 1941, in Rosebud, Texas to John and Lavena Ward.


Doug graduated from Marlin High School in 1960 and later from the University of Texas at Austin from the McCombs Business School as a member of the first honors program. He and Pam Hackel were married on June 23, 1962, and spent 61 years raising a family and spending time together.


Doug had a strong work ethic and began working at a very early age. After college, Doug's career began as a CPA at Southwestern Life Insurance Company. He worked there for over 27 years and rose to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. As a second career, Doug was a financial consultant and had the privilege of working with several companies in many cities in the United States. He and Pam greatly enjoyed living in London and traveling Europe while he was working for Lloyd's of London.

After retiring, Doug and Pam enjoyed community activities in Pecan Plantation located near Granbury, Texas. Doug later was elected to the Board of Directors of the community and served as president from 2016-2017. During his retirement, Doug and Pam enjoyed traveling in their RV throughout the United States for many years.


Doug is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Norman Ward and his wife Dorothy.


Doug is survived by his wife Pam, his daughter Laura Clifton and her husband Michael, his daughter Angela Ingarfield and her husband Todd. Doug enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Lauren Davis and her husband Will, his grandsons Garrett Clifton, Will Ingarfield and Kyle Ingarfield, and great-grandson J.R. Davis. He is also survived by his brother Orval Ward and wife Carolyn, brother Dean Ward and wife Vincy, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.


Doug was a kind and loving husband, brother, father and Poppy and will be forever in our hearts.
