George primarily used "Theodore" as his first name, although he frequently went by "Geo T." and "G. T."
He was born April 11, 1832 to John Jeremiah Collins and Sarah Ann Haynes.
On January 15, 1854 he married Amelia Ann Snyder In Illinois.
He and Amelia had at least five children together:
Melville, John Jeremiah, Sarah Jennie, Theodore R. and Elizabeth "Lizzie" May.

AN OLD MAN FALLS DEAD

G. T. Collins a Victim to Paralysis -- Dies in an Instant -- Was 65 years Old.

The death of G. T. Collins occurred at 3 o'clock yesterday at the home of his son Theodore, corner of First and Willow street. He was aged 65 years. In the afternoon Mr. Collins left his home on S. Willow to visit his son, and as he started to return home he fell dead in the yard from a stroke of paralysis.

Mr. Collins was born April 11, 1832, near Cumberland, Alleghany county, Pa. Moved to Kansas about 1859, where he has since resided, living in Ottawa for the past eight years. He was an old soldier and a member of the Masonic lodge. He leaves a wife and five children, three of whom, John and Theodore and Mrs. Joseph Harford, are residents of this city, The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the house, corner of First and Willow streets. Burial will be in Hope cemetery.
