Galen L. Aikey 68, of Watsontown RD2 died Wednesday, March 1, 1995, at his home. Born July 31, 1926 in Forest Hill, he was a son of the late Hugh and Lena (Aikey) Aikey. He was married to the former Elizabeth Edinger on Aug 11, 1957.

A veteran of World War II, Galen was inducted into the US Army in October 1944. In April 1945 he went to the European Theater and served with the 29th Infantry in Germany as a communications operator. He returned to the US and was honorably discharged in August 1946.

Mr. Aikey was a woodworker most of his life.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 323, Watsontown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Galen L. Jr. of Watsontown; five daughters, Virginia Bieber and Sandra Aikey, both of New Columbia, Anna Herrick of Millmont, Dora Trautwein of Trout Run and Holly Aikey, at home; one stepdaughter, Linda Criswell of Mifflinburg RD2; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; four brothers, Mervin and Howard, both of Mifflinburg RD2, Hugh of Lewisburg RD3 and Clarence of Florida; and eight sisters, Anna Mook, Sara Oberdorf, Edna Oberdorf, Rachel Lohr, Verna Kriesher and Nancy Erb, all of Mifflinburg RD2, Amelia Hanselman of New York and Bonnie Schell of Tunkhannock.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Church Cemetery, West Buffalo Township, Union County.
