Shirley Arlene Nugent, age 75 of Holloway, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri surrounded by her loving family.

The Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Holloway Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Services for Mrs. Shirley will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Holloway Baptist Church with Reverends Tim Shields, Frank Shields, and Jack West officiating. Interment will follow the services in the church cemetery, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.

In 1962, Arlene met the love of her life, Travis, and together they created a life they loved. They could always be found together – traveling, attending gospel singings, camping, fishing (as long as Arlene was getting a nibble she would fish all day), visiting with their family and friends, and spoiling their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time, her favorite things to do were painting and scrapbooking. She would stay in her craft room for hours reminiscing on old memories and turning those memories into keepsakes for her family and friends to enjoy. However, above all, Arlene loved the Lord. She was a Christian who believed strongly in her faith.

In all, she was a loving and compassionate wife, mama, and maw-maw – and a friend to all who knew her.

Mrs. Nugent is preceded in death by her parents J.C. and Ernestine Bridges, and grandparents Edgar and Rose Slay.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving and caring husband of 58 years, Travis W. Nugent; children LaDonna Brown (Kevin), Sissy Williams (Jon), Karen Nugent; Scott Nugent (Crystal); sister Betty Miller (Stan); grandchildren Skyler (Courtney), Tanner, Kaylea (Josh), Devin, Tayler (Zack), Alexis, Cody, Caleb, and Eli; great-grandchildren Willow, Olivia, Ellie, Hannah, Addison and Axel and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Pallbearers honored to serve include her grandsons Skyler Brown, Tanner Brown, Devin Vaughn, Cody Nugent, Caleb Nugent, Eli Williams, Zack Wilson, and Josh Rush.
