Dewey Ivan Alspaw
June 20, 1932 - June 29, 2023

Passed away peacefully on June 29, 2023 of natural causes. He was strong in stature and presence, with a quiet faith that was reflected by his generous giving and servant heart. Always willing to help people in need and support church, community and philanthropic organizations. A loving husband, devoted father, adoring grandfather and proud great grandfather of 6.

Born June 20, 1932 in Stroud, Oklahoma, Ivan graduated high school in Lewisville, Arkansas, where he served as senior class president. Upon high school graduation he attended the University of Texas, Austin and earned a Petroleum Engineering degree. That same year, he married Nell, the love of his life, March 26, 1955.

He served his country proudly as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Air Force as a pilot. Following his service, he began his career with Standard Oil. After several moves and job changes they settled down in Dallas. Finally, choosing not to move his family to Houston, he began his oil and gas consulting company.

Nell and Ivan were married for 65 years. They enjoyed travel with family and friends and took countless road trips in their RV. Patriotic and loyal to their country the Alspaws were known for their annual July 4th picnic and fireworks show at their lake house.

Ivan is survived by son and wife Jon and Debbie Alspaw, their children, Alyssa and husband Scott Hinckley; Cameron and wife Carley Alspaw; and six great grandchildren; daughter Julie Alspaw; son and wife Joel and LeeAnn Alspaw and their children, Alex and wife Megan Alspaw, Emily and husband Chase Ford, and Kelly Alspaw; niece Michelle English Alspaw and her family.

He is preceded in death by his wife Nell, brother Jerry and wife Marty Alspaw, niece Misty Alspaw, and parents Arthur and Leona Alspaw.

A memorial service will be held on July 6th at 3:00 PM in the Monie Chapel at Presbyterian Village North, 8600 Skyline Dr., Dallas, Texas. Preceded by a family graveside service at Restland.
