Gerald Edward "Eddie" Bales, 84 of Libertyville, past away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 in Union Hospital. He was born in Terre Haute on May 13th, 1939 to Howard Bales and Mary Audrey Chilton Bales.

Eddie was a machinist for GE Onsite Machining. He had 49 years of service with the New Goshen Fire Department, and was known as the "Mayor of Libertyville". He was known as a kind and generous man who plowed snow from everyone's driveway.

He is survived by 3 children; Steve Bales (Phyllis), Cheryl Dickerson (Steve), and Doug Bales (Mary), and his grandchildren; Amanda Bales, Josh Piper (Sabrina), Amy Jones (Chris), Emily Anderson (A.J.), Wyatt Bales, Krissy Elkins, and Steve Dickerson Jr. Also Surviving are his eleven great-grandchildren, one sister, Karen Bales-Simpson, two sister in laws and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and his wife Barbara Jeane Niel Bales.

Funeral Services will be held in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, IN on Monday July 3, 2023 at 1:00 PM, with Brother Robert Huttegger officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery.
