Darrell Anthony Belka, 75, of Glyndon, MN, died June 24, 2023, at Bethany in Fargo, ND, surrounded by his loving family.

Darrell was born March 10, 1948, in Perham, MN, to Clemence and Dorothy (Cole) Belka. He grew up on the family farm on the north shore of Little Pine Lake and graduated from Perham High School in 1966. He was in the first class to attend Detroit Lakes Vocational Technical School. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was very proud of his military service.

After his discharge, he began working at the U.S. Post Office in Perham. In 1974, he transferred to the Fargo Post Office where he worked until his retirement in 2007. After retirement, he continued serving his community by providing transportation for kids in the DGF school system.

Darrell was united in marriage to Shirley Westland on June 29, 1974, in Perham. They made their home in Fargo, ND and eventually moved to rural Glyndon, where they raised their two children, Aaron and Sarah.

Darrell enjoyed woodworking, playing pinochle with friends, going out to eat, trips to the casino and big family gatherings. He loved the Minnesota Twins and regularly attended DGF sporting events. He especially loved spending time with family and attending his grandchildren's school events. Darrell was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers for over 40 years and a member of the Moorhead VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, Glyndon; his son, Aaron (Brooke) Belka, Felton, MN; his daughter, Sarah (Brett) Iwen, Glyndon; grandchildren, Mariah, Caylee, Ashton, Madelyn, Cole and Maegan; brother, George (Judy) Belka, Perham, and sisters, Colleen (Bill) Huebsch, Osage, IA and Sherry (Neil) Tobkin, Willmar, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Mary; his brother, Richard and two infant sisters.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service following at 7:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. Visitation continues Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 10:00 A.M, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Dilworth, MN. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Glyndon with full military honors.
