Madame Barbier was one of the six prostitutes who came from France with La Salle, his men and the French Colonists to settle at the mouth of the Mississippi River.

She married Gabriel Barbier, who was one of La Salle's men, at the settlement. Theirs was the first recorded European wedding of record in Texas that was solemnized by a priest.

She was killed in the final massacre on the settlement.
