Before 1840 his brother Freeman went West to Ohio where he settled in Guernsey County. Freeman served during the War Between the States.
After the Civil War Daniel moved his family to Douglas County, Kansas, where he again worked building wagons. After the death of his wife Daniel lived with his daughter Ann and her family.
