Two Men Arrested In Shooting Affair
Galena Man Tells Police That One of Two Men Fired Two Shots At Him.
_____________
Galena, Kan. Oct. 8, ----- "Snake" Ownes and Wayne Evans, both of Carthage, were arrested tonight and placed in jail after Ernie Donaldson, residing on East Fourth Street, said Owens fired two shots at him neither of which was effective. Donaldson received powder burns on his right hand when he hit the pistol as Owens is said to have fired the first shot.
According to Donaldson's story to police, the two men came to his home tonight and created a disturbance. Owens, he told police, had been drinking. Donaldson said he asked the two men to leave because his grandmother, Mrs. Josephine Titus, had died last night, and her body was in the house.
After the two men had got in their car, Donaldson said, they drove up to where Donaldson was standing. IT was then, according to Donaldson, that Owens produced a pistol. Donaldson hit the gun as Owens fired, according to the story, and the two men then scuffled. Another shot was fired. Officers were called and the two men were arrested.
