Jerry Don Leaverton, 72, of Petrolia, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Henrietta with Rev. Aaron Logan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Henrietta under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Jerry was born on July 6, 1950 in Benjamin, Texas to William Clarence "Sam" and Ludie (Lambert) Leaverton. He served his country in the United State Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was retired from the Department of Energy in Law Enforcement. Jerry was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Jerry was preceded in death by parents, son, Will Leaverton, two brothers, Nick and Jon Leaverton, sister, Sue Leaverton, brother-in-law, Denny Pope and nephew, William Dalton Pope.
Survivors include his daughter, Nikki Leaverton of Fort Worth, Texas; brother and sister in law, Bert and Judy Leaverton of Knox City, Texas; three nephews, Bill and wife Kim Leaverton of Stephenville, Texas, Lee Leaverton of Leveland, Texas and Rick and wife Janice Leaverton of Littleton, Colorado; four nieces, Vickie Bell and husband Randy of Carrollton, Texas, Julie Hall and husband Ken of Granbury, Texas, Jennifer Petri and husband Darrel of Cleburne, Texas and Dannielle Pope of Raleigh, North Carolina; cousin, Linda Kay and Charlie Pratt of Atlanta, Georgia; ex-wife, Cindy Pope Leaverton of Henrietta, Texas.
