Mrs. Alice H. Megendt, 84, of Fort Valley, passed away Friday at Serenity Gate Hospice in Perry. Mrs. Megendt was born August 27, 1922 in Clay County, Alabama, daughter of the late Richard Daniel and Nancy Louemma Smith Hazel. She was a member of Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church and retired from Leader Tribune in Fort Valley. Mrs. Megendt worked in the restaurant industry and also worked with and trained the mentally handicapped for Goodwill.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Merrill Wilson of Glenn; Belinda and Jim Parham of Port St. Joe, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Sue Feagin of Acworth; Grandchildren and spouses, Tim and Alicia Wilson of Fort Valley, Lynn and Michael Lehr of Cordele, Toni and Shawn Bidinger of Palmdale, CA., Tommy and Vonda Worley and Terry and Heather Worley of Opelika, Al., Billy Feagin of Acworth; Great Grandchildren, Amber Worley, Brittany Worley, Katie Lehr, Elizabeth Lehr, Makalynn Lehr, T.J. Tilley, Ian Bidinger, Christian Bidinger, Caleb Bidinger and Alexis Worley; one great, great granddaughter; two sisters, Addie South of Marianna, FL., and Sue McFarland of LaGrange.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, John K. Wilson; sisters, Naomi Shortnecy and Zadie Cotton; brothers, Cecil Hazel, Marshall Hazel and Olin Hazel.
The funeral services for Mrs. Alice H. Megendt will be at 2:00 Monday in the chapel of the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home with Dr. Robert W. Bowman and Tim Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and may be contacted at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Merrill Wilson at 5565 Glenn Road, Glenn, Georgia.
