A native of Buncombe County, he was born December 29, 1913, to the late W.W. and Axie Scalf Crowder. He was a member of Hominy Baptist Church for over 50 years where he was a former choir member. Music and sports played a very important part of his younger life recording music as "The Crowder Brothers".
He had a great love for the outdoor life of fishing, hunting and camping. His hands were never idle, being an inventor and craftsman in his own quiet manner.
He retired as a printer having been employed at Grove's, Crowder's, and Clark's Printing Companies. He was also employed for several years at Ecusta Paper Company in Brevard.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
