Graveside services to honor the life of Sybil Clements, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. The arrangements are entrusted to the caring professionals at Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home.
Sybil peacefully passed away on June 10, 2023, in Garland, Texas, at the age of 93. Born Sybil Ebarb on June 29, 1929, in Wills Point, Texas, she was the daughter of Claud Ebarb and Annie Phipps Ebarb. She was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School. In 1945, Sybil moved to Dallas, where she attended East Grand Baptist Church and had the pleasure of meeting the love of her life, John Clements. On November 14, 1947, they embarked on a beautiful journey together, exchanging vows and establishing their home in Dallas.
Sybil dedicated her life to her family as a loving homemaker. In 1984, she and John purchased land, and after his passing, Sybil relocated to Wills Point in 1997. She found love again when she married Gene Mayfield, who sadly preceded her in death in 2001. Sybil later married Bobby McSwain, who also preceded her in death in 2018. Throughout her life, Sybil was an active member of First Baptist Church. She had a passion for teaching and shared her knowledge by teaching the English language to Japanese families who moved to the area for employment.
Sybil had a creative spirit and enjoyed sewing, solving jigsaw puzzles, and playing board and card games. She had a green thumb and found joy in gardening, as well as spending quality time with her cherished grandchildren.
Sybil was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Annie Ebarb; her three beloved husbands; her sister, Charlotte Ebarb McCleod, and her husband, Otis; her brother, Arthur Clyde Ebarb, who tragically lost his life when his plane was shot down during World War II; and her son-in-law, Larry Regan.
She is survived by her daughters, Jan Regan of Garland, Texas, Becky Travis and husband Alan of Wills Point, Texas, and Tina Brown and husband Mark of Garland, Texas; her bonus daughter, Sundy Rogers of Wills Point, Texas; ten grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Sybil's legacy of love and warmth will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
