75 Years Old

David was born on Thanksgiving Day, in Portales, New Mexico to David Cecil Gwin and Hildreth Mae Gwin. He moved to Hobbs, NM in 1955 with his family where he attended Hobbs schools and later attended New Mexico Junior College. At the time of his death, he was a resident of a nursing home in Ralls, TX. He had been courageously fighting Alzheimer's disease for the last few years.

David worked in the oilfields of New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma throughout most of his life. He owned and operated ziA-Audio later in life.

He loved his Hobbs Eagles and attended many Hobbs Eagle sporting events over the years.

He was a true patriot and honorably served six years in the Army National Guard.

David gave thanks to God and Alcoholics Anonymous for his sobriety and was just a few days short of having 39 years of sobriety at the time of his passing. While staying sober, he built many enduring friendships and offered continuous support to those seeking recovery.

He was preceded in death by both his parents and one brother, Dennis Gwin. He is survived by one brother, Steve Gwin as well as well as many cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the New Mexico Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association at Alzheimer's Association | Donate to Fight Alzheimer's Disease.
