MALAN, Margaret Lee
Surrounded by her family, Jessie Margaret Lee Malan returned to her Heavenly Father, on October 7, 1999.
Kit, as she was affectionately known throughout her life, suffered from pulmonary fibrosis.

Born May 29, 1925, in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Maude Iola Dent and Jesse Thomas Lee. She graduated from Columbia High School, where she served as Student Body President. A loving mother and wife, she loved to sew and take care of her family. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Celeste Singers, and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served with passion and love for her Heavenly Father in all her callings.

Kit married Lex Andreason Malan in Columbia, South Carolina on March 25, 1944. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple on July 25, 1944. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. She served missions for The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints to the Southern States; Independence, Missouri; and San Diego, California. She is survived by her husband, Lex; daughters: Janice Mickelson (Michael) of Alpine, Utah, Emily Zaugg (Ned) of Everett, Wash., Ruann Mortensen(Robert) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lisa Hlubik, (David) and Christine Rasmussen Malan, both of San Diego; son Randy (Holly) of San Diego; also survived by a brother, Donald E. Lee (Betty) of Point Loma, Calif.; sisters, Betty Jane Friske (Don) of Flathead Lake, Mont., and Ruth Helston (Harvey) of Mesquite, Nev.; 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are Monday, October 11, at 12 noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 3705 Tennyson, San Diego. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment at Singing Hills Memorial Park, El Cajon.
