Lex Andreason Malan
While surrounded by loved ones, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away from leukemia on February 29, 2008.

He was 84 years old. Lex was born the 13th child of Alexis Bartholomew and Veta Elfreda Andreason Malan in Ogden, Utah, on November 30, 1923. He attended Polk Elementary, and Central Junior High, and graduated from Ogden High School and Brigham Young University.

Lex married his "little Kit", Jesse Margaret Lee, on March 25, 1944, in Columbia, South Carolina. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah, temple. She passed away in October 1999. Together they had five children. In July 2001, he found love again and married his college sweetheart, Leah Stoker Tribe, in the Oakland, California, temple. They have enjoyed their life together in Napa, California.

He served almost four years in the Armed Forces stationed throughout the South. He lived most of his life in Ogden, having his own real estate company, Lex Malan Realty. He loved serving others and was active in his church and community, including serving a term as vice-president of the Ogden Board of Realtors and President of the Weber State College Alumni Association. In 1974, he moved to Southern California, where he continued to sell real estate. He was a wonderful, patient father and treated everyone as a friend. He touched many lives with his dedication to the LDS church. He served a mission for the church with his wife, Kit, in Independence, Missouri and they served two more missions in San Diego, California.

Lex is survived by his loving wife, Leah; children, Janice (Michael) Mickelson, Alpine, UT, Emily (Ned) Zaugg, Everett, WA, Randy (Holly), Escondido, CA, Lisa (David) Hlubik, San Diego, CA, and Ruann (Robert) Mortensen, Colorado Springs, CO; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Christine Malan, brother-in-law, Ty Parker, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Leah's daughter, Leslie Ann Tribe, and granddaughter, Reisha Natasha Tribe (Aaron) Ritchie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, ten sisters, Edna Tanner, Veta Domenko, Mary Torgerson, Vera Leishman, Lenora Erekson, Miriam Lee, Madeline Marston, Alice Everett, Rosalie Parker, Marjorie Morrell, and two brothers, Claude and Fred.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Napa Third Ward, 2590 Trower Avenue in Napa, with Bishop Alan Turner conducting. Interment will be at a later date in Singing Hills Memorial Park, San Diego, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the LDS Humanitarian Services, www.lds. org/humanitarian will be appreciated.
