Mrs. Powell was born the daughter of Bright Weldon Douglas and Irene Baxley Douglas on August 8, 1941, in Hemingway.
She was born the sixth of eight children, James, Winston, Evelyn, Bernice, Robert, Tommy, and Harry.
She was a faithful member for over 50 years of Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed sewing, making crafts, cooking, and making candy. Her greatest pride was being a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother.
Mary and Roger were married on April 21, 1962, and celebrated 61 years together.
Their home was blessed with two children, Teresa P. Dennis (Rob Mildy) and Jane P. Tyler (David); and three grandchildren, Douglas Turner, Adam Williams and Alexis Tyler.
She is also survived by her siblings, Bernice Rollins, Tommy Douglas, and Harry Douglas (Kimberly); and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a granddaughter, Haley; and her siblings, James Douglas, Winston Douglas, Evelyn Richardson, and Robert Douglas.
A Graveside Service will be 2 PM, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Eaddy Ford Cemetery.
The Powell family will greet family and friends immediately after the service.
