Dr. Walter Adams Dies Here At 55
Dr. Walter C. Adams, one of California's noted physicians, a visitor here for the past two months, died of heart trouble Sunday night at the home of Harry Craig, Kailua, Oahu. He was the father-in-law of J. P. Leebrick, Jr., son of J. Paul Leebrick of the Home Insurance Co., and nephew of Dr. Karl C. Leebrick. Dr. Adams was born in Galt, California, September 16, 1891. His parents were pioneers in California. He graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and from Stanford University, California school of medicine in 1917. He practiced medicine and surgery in Oakland for 26 years. His home was in Piedmont, California. H was one of the pioneers of Peralta Hospital in Oakland. H was an honorary member of the staff of Peralta Hospital.
He retired from active practice four years ago because of ill health - a heart condition from which he eventually died - and moved to Pebble Beach, California. He was past president of the American Medical Association. He was a Mason, member of Yerba Buena Lodge Of Oakland.
Having never met his son-in-law and granddaughter, Leslie, he came to the Islands with his wife and son about two months ago. He is survived by the widow, Emmy Lou Adams; his son, W. C. Adams, Jr., a former naval pilot for four years, who is now studying medicine at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Doris (Mrs. J. P. Leebrick Jr.); another son, Don C. Adams of Pebble Beach, California; one brother and one sister in Oakland, California, and one brother and one sister in Lodi, California.

Mrs. E. J. Hatton yesterday received notice by radiogram that her brother, Dr. Walter C. Adams, had passed away Sunday afternoon in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he, his wife and son were visiting his daughter, Mrs. Doris Leebrick. Dr. Adams had been ill for several years. He graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1910 and later attended the University of Michigan. He received his degree from the medical department of Stanford University and started his practice in Stockton, later moving to Oakland. Dr. Adams is survived by his wife, Emmy Lou Adams; his son, Walter C. Adams Jr., who is now attending medical school in Arkansas; his daughter in Honolulu, Mrs. Doris Leebrick, and the following brothers and sisters: C. N. Adams, Galt; Mrs. E. J. Hatton, Lodi; Mrs. John Arrousez of Oakland and R. P. Adams of Sacramento. Dr. Adams was also brother to the late W. A. Adams of Healdsburg and the late Dr. J. H. Adams of Oakland.
