Mark Factor grew up in Philadelphia and attended the Mastbaum Vocational School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1938 and was aboard the USS St. Louis at Pearl Harbor during the attack on Dec. 7, 1941. He was a veteran of numerous naval battles of the Pacific including Leyte Gulf, Guadalcanal, Okinawa and Kolombangara. He achieved the rank of Machinist's Mate Chief. After the navy, Mr. Factor worked for E.I. DuPont De Nemours in Wilmington, DE at the Experimental Station and Chestnut Run facilities. He later worked for Westvaco in Newark, DE from where he retired in 1984. After retirement, he resided in the Conowingo Rising Sun, MD area until entering an assisted living facility in Columbia, MD in 2003. Mr. Factor was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, the USS St. Louis (CL-49) Association, the VFW and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leon, Howard and Marty Factor and wives, Thelma Pennock Factor and Irene Ragan Factor. He is survived by his sons, Raymond Factor of Little Rock, AR, and James Factor and his wife, Jacalyn of Woodbine, MD; 3 grandchildren, Gregory, Paige and Julie Factor of Woodbine, MD; and a brother, Larry Factor of Philadelphia, PA.
